What is
What is Dental Facial Rejuvenation?
Facial rejuvenation is often called a non-surgical facelift. It involves one or more dental services provided by a Wilmington, NC dentist to restore facial shape by rebuilding the teeth.
Missing teeth affect more than just your smile. They also impact your jawbone. The jawbone needs regular stimulation from chewing and biting to stay healthy. That stimulation comes from the tooth roots. When a tooth root is missing, the body begins to lose bone in that area.
If only one tooth is missing, changes may not be noticeable right away. But when several teeth are missing, the space between the chin and nose can shrink. This leads to a sunken appearance, deeper wrinkles, and a collapsed facial profile.
Long-time denture wearers are often excellent candidates for facial rejuvenation. Old or poorly fitting dentures place uneven pressure on the gums and can speed up jawbone loss.
By restoring the teeth, the cheeks, lips, and neck regain proper support. The space between the chin and nose is restored to a more youthful height. As a result, facial features appear smoother, fuller, and more balanced.
- Changed lip shape, such as thin, compressed, and wrinkled lips
- Jowls, which appear as excess fat and sagging skin along the jawline
- A deep crease between the chin and lower lip
- A squished or sunken-looking face
- Hollow cheeks

Why should I
Consider Facial Rejuvenation?
Facial rejuvenation is not about changing the features that make you look like you. It is about restoring the support your teeth once provided so your smile and facial profile feel more familiar.
Depending on your needs, treatment may involve custom cosmetic dentures or a more comprehensive full mouth reconstruction. Some plans can be completed without surgery, while others may include dental implants or additional restorative procedures.
Facial rejuvenation may help address:
- Thin, compressed, or wrinkled-looking lips
- Hollow or flattened cheeks
- A deep crease between the chin and lower lip
- Jowls or reduced definition along the jawline
- A shortened or sunken lower facial profile
- Worn, missing, or poorly fitting teeth
- Dentures that no longer provide proper facial support

The benefits of
Facial Rejuvenation Dentistry
Restore natural facial support
Rebuilding worn or missing teeth can provide renewed support for the lips and cheeks while restoring more balanced proportions between the nose and chin.
Improve your smile and bite
Facial rejuvenation does more than enhance your appearance. Your treatment can also make it easier to bite, chew, speak, and smile comfortably.
Receive care designed around you
There is no one-size-fits-all facial rejuvenation treatment. Dr. Kuzma evaluates your dental health, bite, facial structure, and personal goals before recommending a plan.

Facial Rejuvenation Treatments in Wilmington
From routine visits to advanced restorative and cosmetic care, Omni Dental offers services designed to help you protect your health, improve your smile, and feel confident in your care.
Cosmetic Dentures
Traditional dentures are often designed primarily to replace missing teeth. At our practice, Dr. Kuzma offers Fountain of Youth® Dentures, which take your entire smile, bite, and facial profile into consideration.
Using impressions of your mouth and advanced technology, Dr. Kuzma determines the proportions that best complement your face. Your dentures are then custom-designed to support your facial tissues and create a naturally balanced smile. High-quality materials help the teeth resemble natural enamel, while careful planning promotes a secure, comfortable fit.
Fountain of Youth Dentures may be especially beneficial for patients who have worn dentures for many years. As the mouth changes, older dentures may begin to fit poorly or provide less support for the lips and cheeks. By designing your dentures around your face and bite, Dr. Kuzma can help restore both your smile and the support behind it.

Full Mouth Reconstruction
The Process
Since our Wilmington dental office provides custom care, the facial rejuvenation process is different for everyone. If you’re getting Fountain of Youth Dentures, it’ll take less time than a full-mouth reconstruction.
Fountain of Youth Dentures
First, schedule your consultation with Dr. Kuzma. You’ll sit down with him to discuss your current oral health and goals, and he’ll examine your mouth, gums, teeth, and jaws to determine which type of dental treatment is right for you. If you decide on Fountain of Youth Dentures, he’ll take impressions of your mouth and use advanced technology to determine the proper proportions of your face. Then, you’ll wait for Dr. Kuzma to create your dentures. Once they’re ready, you’ll return to our Wilmington dental office for an appointment to get your dentures.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
First, schedule a consultation with Dr. Kuzma. He’ll go through the same steps as the Fountain of Youth Dentures, such as an examination, getting to know you, and understanding your goals.
Next, you’ll schedule your dental implant surgery. While it is surgery, it’s not major, and you won’t have too much downtime.
On the day of your dental implant surgery, have someone drive you to and from the office. After your surgery, take the day to rest. Dr. Kuzma will give you temporary dentures while your dental implants heal for 3–4 months.
Once healed, you’ll return for your permanent set of beautiful teeth.

What to expect from the facial rejuvenation process
Consultation and comprehensive evaluation
Your treatment begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Kuzma. You will discuss what has changed, what concerns you most, and what you would like your treatment to accomplish.
Dr. Kuzma will examine your teeth, gums, jaws, bite, and facial proportions. Digital imaging, scans, impressions, or other diagnostic tools may be used to understand your oral health and plan your care accurately.
Personalized smile and facial design
Once Dr. Kuzma understands your needs, he will recommend a treatment plan tailored to your smile. Your plan will outline the services involved, what you can expect at each appointment, and the anticipated treatment timeline.
For cosmetic dentures, detailed measurements and impressions will be used to design teeth that complement your face and provide appropriate support. For a full mouth reconstruction, your treatment may be completed in phases based on the procedures you need.
Treatment and final refinements
Your treatment will be completed with close attention to comfort, function, fit, and appearance.
Patients receiving cosmetic dentures will return for a fitting once their restorations are ready. Dr. Kuzma will evaluate how the dentures fit, how your bite comes together, and how the teeth support your smile and facial profile. Additional adjustments can be made to improve comfort.
If your full mouth reconstruction includes dental implants, you may receive temporary teeth while the implants heal. Once healing is complete, Dr. Kuzma will place your final restorations and make any necessary refinements.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
No. A surgical facelift alters facial skin and underlying tissues. Dental facial rejuvenation rebuilds worn or missing teeth to restore support for the lips, cheeks, and lower facial profile.
Because it focuses on the teeth and bite, facial rejuvenation does not replace plastic surgery or address every cosmetic concern. Dr. Kuzma can help you understand what dental treatment may realistically improve.
Cosmetic denture treatment does not require surgery. However, a full mouth reconstruction may include dental implants or other surgical procedures when they are appropriate for your health and goals.
Dr. Kuzma will explain every option before treatment begins, including whether surgery is recommended and what recovery may involve.
You may be a candidate if you have several missing or severely worn teeth, have worn dentures for many years, or have noticed changes in your facial profile alongside changes in your smile.
A comprehensive consultation is the best way to determine whether cosmetic dentures, full mouth reconstruction, or another treatment would be most appropriate.
Properly designed cosmetic dentures can provide improved support for the lips and cheeks while restoring the height of your bite. The amount of visible change varies based on your anatomy, oral health, and the degree of bone loss present.
The timeline depends on the treatment you receive. Cosmetic dentures may require several appointments for planning, fabrication, fitting, and adjustments. A full mouth reconstruction may take longer, particularly when dental implants need time to heal before the final teeth are placed.
You will receive a personalized timeline before beginning care.
That is the goal. Your restorations will be selected and designed around your facial features, proportions, bite, and preferences. Rather than creating an artificial or overly dramatic look, Dr. Kuzma focuses on results that feel balanced, comfortable, and natural to you.
